do solar panels need direct sunlight to work?
or will they work on daylight alone,the reason i ask is that i live in the uk and sunlight is not premium!,i would like to install a small panel in the garden to run the lights in my shed,any advice would be appreciated,thank you.
Solar panels use light energy (photons) from the sun to generate electricity through the photovoltaic effect

Depending on construction, photovoltaic panels can produce electricity from a range of frequencies of light. Sunlight conversion rates (solar panel efficiencies) can vary from 5-18% in commercial production, typically lower than the efficiencies of their cells in isolation
But as we knew that the solar energy is so powerful that even with this conversion rate is able to produce a large power supply
So, when direct sun light is available they produce more power but when it is cloudy they are not as efficient but power is stored through batteries and they work well but Separate diodes are needed to avoid reverse currents, in case of partial or total shading, and at night.
