Is it illegal to wire a consumer unit when not qualified?
i have a shed in my back garden that has has 4x80watts solar panels on it and it has 4x220ah car battery connected a total of 880ah and i wanted to connect the power coming out of my inverter to a consumer unit in the shed which would power a outdoor socket and lighting in the shed.i know a lot about electrics because i am training to be an electrician.could this be done and would it be illegal to wire this up without being a part p electrician
As long as you don't connect the output of your solar system to the grid power feeding your home, you'll be okay. Instead of using car batteries, you should be using deep cycle batteries. Car batteries are designed for short duration high current applications (like starting your car). Deep cycle batteries are designed for low current long duration applications (like running a golf cart or powering an inverter).
