Solar Garden Statues
Will any of this scare away possums or raccoons?
I'm going to plant a vegetable garden. I know that there are possums and raccoons that come into my backyard at night. I've seen them and I've found evidence in the morning of them eating my potted tomato and pepper plants. I live in the suburbs and my backyard is fenced so those are the only animals that cause problems.
I was going to surround the garden with solar powered lights in hopes that the lights will scare them off. I also found motion sensored statues that make noise in hopes that the sound also scares them off.
I also heard that surrounding the area with epsom salt will keep them away because they will lick them thinking it's mineral salt and the bad taste will keep them away.
I know that there is no way to keep them away 100% but will these things at least keep a majority of them out of my backyard and away from my vegetable garden?
I plant squash around the perimeter . They do not like the feel of the leaves on their hide. Urine and blood sprayed on the perimeter will also help.Do it weekly of after irrigation or rainfall. TThe ultimate solution is a good fence around the garden. A combination of these should help
