Will both magnetic and non-magnetic grades of stainless steel be rust free if left outside?
Research tells me that chrome and nickel are the key. I don't want to buy some solar outside lights advertised as stainless steel with a copper finish if they are going to rust. The company selling them is throughout the USA but gets nearly everything from China. I have traveled to China looking for Iron Casting Suppliers and was not impressed with their process controls.
'Stainless' is a misnomer..........the more correct term is 'corrosion resistant.'.............all such steels will have some rate of corrosion..........heat treated 400 series stainless, which is magnetic, is particularly prone to early rusting
